Nightingale 2009 will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver. The announcement of the recipients at the gala Nightingale Event is the highlight of the evening. Each recipient receives a commemorative bronze sculpture of Florence Nightingale.
The Colorado Nurses Foundation (CNF) is the organization planning this statewide event. The Colorado Springs Nightingale and Western Slope Nightingale are part of the CNF state-wide planning committee. CNF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to improving health care and nursing practice in Colorado. CNF is devoted to creating nursing excellence through the promotion of educational and scientific activities and community-based projects in Colorado. Sara Jarrett is President of the Colorado Nurses Foundation Board of Directors.
Since 1999, the Colorado Nurses Foundation has awarded 244 scholarships totaling $313,750.

Nominations for the 2009 Nightingale Awards

The Colorado Nurses Foundation (CNF), sponsor of the Nightingale Event, and the Nightingale Statewide Selection Committee encourages your nominations of candidates for the 23rd Annual Nightingale Awards. The prestigious awards will be presented Saturday, May 9, 2009 at a banquet dinner in Denver. The Nightingale Awards event was founded in 1985 to honor nurses who best exemplify the philosophy and practice of Florence Nightingale, a 19th century nursing pioneer.
Registered nurses throughout Colorado are nominated by solicitation from the Colorado Area Health Education Centers (AHECs) and the Colorado Springs and Western Slope Nightingale Committees. Fifteen finalists will be selected by the six regions and forwarded to the Statewide Selection Committee, who determines the recipients.
- Nominees must be a registered nurse (RN) currently practicing in Colorado or retired from practice in Colorado.
- Nominee may have been previously nominated and/or a finalist but may not be a previous recipient.
- 2009 nomination deadline is Friday, January 9, 2009
All nominees will be honored at one of six regional events around the state.
The Colorado Nurses Foundation will dedicate funds raised from the event for scholarships and educational activities for nurses throughout the state of Colorado. Kim Christiansen of Channel 9NEWS in Denver will return as master of ceremonies for the May 9, 2009 program. David Kearns will serve as Chair of the 2009 Nightingale event.
